Good Citizens

1 Peter 2:13-14 KJV Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; [14] Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

We are to obey the laws of the land. When Peter wrote these words, he was living under the rule of a Caesar. Peter did not have a say in the government he was under. We are privileged that we have a say in who governs us and how we are governed. We should thank the Lord for that privilege. Being a good citizen goes to our testimony. If we are unwilling to obey the laws, we are living a bad testimony and setting a bad example for others.  Let’s make sure daily that we are good citizens in this world.
