Matthew 5:4

Matthew 5:4 KJV Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
As we continue our look at the Beattitudes, we see that those who mourn are comforted. We have all mourned over the loss of a loved one or a dear friend. We have found that God can comfort us (2 Cor. 1:3-4). We have also found that friends can be source of comfort during a time mourning. But the mourning mentioned here is a spiritual mourning. Do we grieve over our sin? Do we grieve over the sin of our nation? Do we desire the power and working of God in our life to the point that we grieve for those things? This is the type of mourning indicated in this verse. When we have a spiritual mourning, we rest assured that God will comfort our hearts. Let’s exercise some spiritual mourning in our life.
