The People of God

1 Peter 2:9-10 KJV But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: [10] Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

It is interesting that God often has a very different view of us than we have of ourselves. We would not describe ourselves as being a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, or a peculiar people. We often see our flaws and sin. We do not see ourselves as measuring up to what God expects. But in verse 9, Peter describes us as God sees us. We are now His people. We are the people of God and we should certainly live like we are His people. We should allow the world to see us as God sees us. This would give us a testimony that could influence others for the cause of Christ.
